Phoebe’s L’Oreal ID journey – Oct 2022
Trip to Paris, what an experience! As part of the L’Oréal ID Artist team I was lucky enough to go on a two day trip to the beautiful Paris and be immersed in all things fashion and couture.
Once we’d landed, we were taken straight to the L’Oréal headquarters. There we had the privilege of watching and learning how multi award winning hair artists, Darren and Jackie Ambrose, create their amazing looks inspired by fashion.
The idea that hairdressing is an art form is something I live by. D&J Ambrose truly inspired me and I felt gave me permission to push that art and fashion side by experimenting with matierials and incorporating different aspects into the hair. An incredible and inspirational start to the weekend, followed by a rooftop meal and drinks overlooking the Eiffel Tower in the evening. Magical.
The following morning continued the fashion theme and did not disappoint! We were taken around the Yves Saint Laurent museum, full of his original sketches and fashion designs. This really appealed to my art background and it was fascinating to hear about his journey and background in the fashion world.
The weekend clarified for me that hairdressing, fashion and art all interlock and reminded me that was what drew me to the industry initially. Something I will forever continue to entwine and explore.
