What is an essential oil?

Essential oil is the most active element of an aromatic plant. Its unique and can’t be reproduced. It’s also dense in biochemical entities, which means it has high levels of substances and processes which occur on a cellular level in a living organism.

There are four main properties of essential oil:

1. Not water soluble
2. Lipophilic – they are attracted easily to other lipids and penetrate deep into the skin.
3. Highly active – enhancing skin function
4. Highly stable – not reactive

Why are essential oils so powerful in skincare?

Essential oils have a natural affinity with the skin, this means that the body readily accepts and utilises the essential oils easily and deeply. Due to this affinity with the skin, it has one of the quickest absorption rates.

Through essential oils we can harness nature’s natural healing and dynamic properties for every priority, body and lifestyle. This is a major advantage for many clients who find they are sensitive to many over the counter products, as these often contain synthetic ingredients which the skin can’t process or utilise, making product results less effective.

Warm 3 drops of Aromessence oil serum in your hands, breathe in the scent and apply to the whole face. *When applying you will probably only need one pass of the face due to how quickly the oil serum absorbs. You may also think, “that wasn’t enough”, but it is due to its concentration.

Finishing product?

Apply a 5p size amount of appropriate day cream. During the summer, or on warmer days, you can use the Aromessence on its own, as some may feel using the facial oil serum and cream too heavy/hot.
